Dress Haul a.k.a Help Me Choose A Dress For Grad Ball!

Hi! As I've mentioned before, it's my graduation and graduation ball this month. Without realising, it's crept up on me. Suddenly, it's this weekend and I still haven't decided on a dress for my grad ball! I ordered a bunch to try on from ASOS and Topshop, hoping I'd automatically love one far more than the others and that'd be it. Unsurprisingly, that didn't happen. I love all of them and I still can't make up my mind.
I'm hoping this is where you'll come in, and help me choose a dress!

I first of all want to apologise for the terrible quality of the photos - my camera's died on me, so I'm relying on the trusty iPhone. Also no one was in to take photos of me in the dress, so sorry about that! I thought about waiting, in order to make this a better quality post - but with graduation on thursday, I had left it far too late!

This was the first dress I had seen online and thought, 'yeah, I can see myself wearing that'. It's a nice scuba material, fits well, and being from the tall range, is long enough for me (5'10 problems). It is the most expensive dress, but you can definitely feel that it's well made.

This is really similar to the first - black and white and the same scuba material. What I like about this one is the black panels at the sides, very slimming! I also like the length of this one, its the longest out of all of them. I normally wear tights with any dress but am planning on ditching the tights for this occasion, so length is good! I'm not too keen on the zip running down this dress though. Being on sale from £50 to £24 is a big plus though!

This is the only dress with some colour to it. I normally love colour, but is it okay for a more formal occasion? Saying that, I love the pattern and the mesh detailing. However, with the mesh on the back, I'd have to work out what to do bra-wise. It also feels like great quality for a dress that cost £12 (What a steal!)

Being £60 down to £18, this dress is best for value, and you can definitely tell it's a £60 dress! I love the style and again, I love the mesh detailing. I especially like how the mesh isn't too transparent - not too much on show! The only thing with this dress is that it is the shortest by far! I'm worried that I'd be spending most the night pulling it down and worrying about what's on show!

Last, but not least is this ASOS Bardot dress. I love the style of the off-the-shoulder Bardot necklines, and this is no exception. Additionally, I like the cut out back and how it gives it a little something extra. I'm worried that it doesn't really stand out as much as the others, being just a LBD. However, can you ever go wrong with a LBD? Also - it's my mums favourite, so that counts for something, no?

So there we have it - those are all my options! Thank god for free returns, eh?

What do you think? What's your favourite and least favourite and why? Please help me choose!!

  5. I think the Asos Bardot dress is the most timeless - so if you're interested in having photos that won't date I'd personally opt for that one. That being said, I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in whatever you choose xx
