The Liebster Award!

First of all, sorry for a major lack of posts recently! It's been a bit of a hectic week for a multitude of reasons, but I'm back and ready to blog!

I've been nominated for The Liebster Award which is very exciting! So thanks to both Leonie  and Isabel Mary for the nominations! And check them out, if you haven't already!

Rosie Reviews: Tanya Burr 'Bambi Eyes' Lashes

A couple of weeks ago I quickly popped into Superdrug to pick up some lashes before going out that night. It wasn't until I had picked up my usual Eyelure 101's and was heading to the till that I saw the new Tanya Burr lashes in the corner of my eye. Now, I'm not normally one to rush and buy a celebrity/YouTuber product. Somehow I think that it's the name that sells the product and not the quality. However, curiosity got the better of me and I picked up 'Bambi Eyes' (the closest in style to my regular 101's) for a similar price of £5.49.

OOTD + OOTN : Graduation Edition

Hi everyone!
As I've mentioned just about a million times now (sorry) but I graduated last week. My previous post asked you all to help me pick a dress for my graduation ball. So many of you left lovely comments which I really appreciate, thank you!
I thought it would only be fitting to do an outfit of the day into night to show you what I chose to wear.

Dress Haul a.k.a Help Me Choose A Dress For Grad Ball!

Hi! As I've mentioned before, it's my graduation and graduation ball this month. Without realising, it's crept up on me. Suddenly, it's this weekend and I still haven't decided on a dress for my grad ball! I ordered a bunch to try on from ASOS and Topshop, hoping I'd automatically love one far more than the others and that'd be it. Unsurprisingly, that didn't happen. I love all of them and I still can't make up my mind.
I'm hoping this is where you'll come in, and help me choose a dress!

Super Last Minute Halloween Outfit Idea - Dead Doll

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
So this post was meant to be up more than afew days ago (Sorry, I'm the worst!). But if you're in need of a super duper last minute costume, this is an easy one that doesn't take too much effort but still looks like you tried!

The Autumn Tag

I saw this tag over on Beyond the Velvet and thought it was so cute. Although not specifically nominated, Leah and Rachel nominated everyone reading theirs so I'm jumping in with my own!

Travelling Photos - Interrailing

Today I had planned to do a 'Sunday Round-up' and talk about things I have been doing and loving this week. They're one of my favourite types of posts to read and thought I'd jump on the bandwagon. It didn't take me long to realise that all I have done this week is job/internship hunting (oh the joys of being a graduate) and binge watch American Horror Story (oh my god, why didn't I watch it sooner?!) and so didn't warrant it's own post!

Everyday Skincare Routine

'

Now I've never been one for a rigid skincare routine. I'm always too tempted to try out all the new products that come out. Even if I love a product there's always that niggling feeling that there might be another I like even more! Saying that, I think I've just about reached a routine that I feel I can stick to. I still test out new products 'just in case', but often stick to these.

Autumn Nails - Barry M Pomegranate

As a lover of bright nails all through summer (BarryM in Papaya and Green berry have been my go-to this past summer), transitioning into a darker nail colour to match the season has been tricky for me. However, I think I've found my new favourite....

Rosie Reviews: Topshop's Glow Highlighter in Polish

If you rewind the clock a couple of years you wouldn't catch me wearing a highlighter. I was all about that matte look - full coverage foundation, concealer, powdered to the max. Fast forward to now where I like to think I'm older, wiser and more cosmetically educated, I just can't get enough. Highlighters can help give you that radiant glow as well as more shape to the face when paired with contouring.

One of my favourite highlighters of the moment is Topshop's 'Glow Highlighter' in Polish. In my eyes, Topshop make-up can do no wrong. Since the start up of their make up range, it has proved itself as a big name in the world of high street (or 'drugstore') brands.

Aspirin masks - a miracle cure for acne?

**Please ignore the fact that I've been MIA for what feels like years - dissertation's been rudely taking over my life!!**

After googling and googling quick tips to get rid of pesky spots overnight. I keep stumbling upon the aspirin mask as a miracle cure. After a bit more research, it seems like it could be true! Aspirin contains anti-inflammatories as well as salicylic acid, two properties found in the majority of acne treatments. With the same ingredients, aspirin seems like the obvious, and FAR cheaper way to go, no?

A lot of the reviews I've seen also include honey in the mask - another apparent miracle worker for all things skin. It seems I'm going to have to have a rummage in the medicine cabinet and give this one a go!

Has anyone ever tried this? Did you see results quickly? I've got two parties to go to this weekend!

Rosie Reviews: £1.61 Map Watch

If someone told me I could buy a lovely looking, and more importantly, fully functioning watch for £1.61 I would have laughed in their face. Well, £1.61 later, boy was I wrong.

During one of my many hourly tumblr breaks I had come across the nicest watch. With a brown leather strap and a map as the face of the watch. Now, with most nice things I see on tumblr, I figured it was expensive, not available in England and not easy to get hold of. So, I simply reblogged (as you do) and moved on.

Rosie Reviews: Benefit's creaseless cream shadow - 'Skinny Jeans'

So hey... It's been a while. Sorry about that. But I'm baaaaack!
Exams have passed, and sandwiched between them, also my 21st birthday - BOO! But, I did manage to get some lovely presents!

One of which was a old favourite of mine, benefit's creaseless cream shadow. I've always loved 'birthday suit', a natural, everyday kind of colour. Skinny Jeans is a much darker, taupe brown with champagne shimmer throughout.

I'm still alive!

So, I know I haven't been posting and I'm so sorry! And angry at myself - it's my resolution remember! Putting off revising for exams has been overtaken by cramming for exams last minute and so I haven't had time, or the mental capacity to write anything of worth. But with one exam down and two to go, I should be back in no time! Yay!
Super sorry again! Rosie xx

Where's my makeup?

Anyone who loves shopping knows why December is an exciting time. No, it's not Christmas eve, or even Christmas day itself - but the exciting Boxing Day sales which let us buy all the presents for ourselves we spotted when doing our Christmas shopping for others.

I picked up a few bargins here and there (Shall I do a haul post?) but my post exciting purchase was from the Benefit website! You don't find many sales for makeup since they never really go out of season, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that their Christmas sets were marked down! So on boxing day I ordered the 'Groovy kinda love' set (I LOVE benefit's names!!)

What you get with 'Groovy Kinda Love', don't you love the packaging too?

So, resolutions?

So, it's that time of year again where we make promises to ourselves to make this year better than the last. And I'm no different, so here are my New Year Resolutions for 2014. I'm hoping that having them typed up for all to see will remind me to stick to them as I am one of those, like many, whose resolutions are lost by February!

I've always loved to read, but at uni I find it hard to find the time. Not that I'm doing work all the time, but that my free time is normally spent watching TV or losing hours to to Tumblr (am I right? side resolution: less time on tumblr!) It seems the only time I read now is when on holiday, where I can read books on books on books in a week.

I've also decided to read more classic books, some of the 'greats' that you're meant to read. So to help me along, I've bought two Ernest Hemmingway books. After a bit of googling research I decided on 'A Farewell to Arms'(A level English Lit's left me with a familiarity for WW1 literature) and 'Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises' which apparently has similar themes to The Great Gatsby which is one of my favourite books.
So hopefully, I'll get through those without them gathering dust on my shelf and I'll be able to say I've read some Hemmingway!

Saturday 4 January 2014

Hi there!

I thought about missing out the obligatory first introductory post, and instead, just jumping straight in. But what's a blog without the first awkward hello?!
So, hey! I'm Rosie, a 20 year old student, who like many others before me has come to the decision to start a blog!
I know, I know, starting a blog at the start of the new year isn't the most original of ideas, but apparently January brings around a 'push' for people to pursue lingering ideas that the other months just don't bring to the table.
It has nothing to do with me not wanting to revise for my final year exams coming up!

With an obsession with makeup and all things beauty, I had originally intended this blog to be exclusively beauty (with the apt and genius alliterative title 'RosieReviews'). Sadly, with the budget that comes along with being a student, I didn't think I would have the funds to go around buying all the brand new makeup that comes out to put out enough posts. Believe me, I wish I could! Instead, I've left my witty blog name for a slightly vaguer one with the means of being able to blog more widely.

Oh god, this is already getting long and rambley and I'm starting to make my own words up. So I think i'll finish this here, publish it, and stare at the laptop deciding whether or not to delete the whole thing! *Monkey with hands over mouth emoji*

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Rosie x

I love reading all your comments, thank you!
